Campaign Story

My name is Samantha Armenta, I am married to Juan Armenta who is an active duty army soldier. I was diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 16. With each passing year, I think to myself “there’s no way I will not have a baby by next year”. My 27th birthday is in two months and with each passing birthday, we still aren’t pregnant. At first I was denied fertility treatment because of my weight. My doctor told me “If you lose weight, it will increase your chances of conception by 80%”. So I set on a weight loss journey and have lost 80 pounds. I am still not pregnant. I was finally approved to start Clomid, and have had multiple rounds of it. I ovulate successfully but we still don’t fall pregnant. My husband’s “swimmers”, if you will, came back normal. I’ve had multiple IUI’s that have failed. I had the HSG procedure done that cost $2,000 to check to see if my tubes were opened. The procedure hurt so bad, but my tubes were open! They said that the flushing of the tubes would highly increase my chances of conception. “Most couples conceive the first 3 months after this procedure”, they told me. I still didn’t get pregnant. With each passing month I am doing bloodwork twice a month, getting the IUI’s, taking the round of Clomid, doing transvaginal ultrasounds. My body is so tired of being invaded. Needles, ultrasounds, insemination. I am losing all of my hope. I would absolutely love the chance to try IVF. We are military, but our insurance does not cover it. Even if you can not donate, please say a prayer for us. I am desperate at this point and so, so tired. Thank you.
